Inside Angles

Committees

Your membership in the Holland/Springfield Chamber offers you the opportunity to share your experience with other Chamber members to not only strengthen your business, but to develop that of the entire membership. With your help, our members will benefit from the growth and continued development of the Chamber and its program of work.

We encourage you to participate in any of the Chamber committees where your schedule allows.

AMBASSADORS COMMITTEE

Committee Chair: Barry Birr (BB Global, LLC) 419-290-2259

Meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 12:00 Noon. Location TBD.

  • To provide services geared toward improving membership retention,
  • To determine the needs and expectations of Chamber members by maintaining contact throughout the year,
  • To refer member concerns to Chamber staff and appropriate committee,
  • To ensure members have updated Chamber materials (ie. Plaque, sticker, directory).

Committee Tasks:

  • Assist with ribbon cuttings and grand opening ceremonies,
  • Attend and assist at monthly Business After Hours,
  • Attend New Member Receptions and other Chamber events and programs,
  • Be an Ambassador to all Chamber members and the community.

“COFFEE CONNECTIONS” NETWORKING GROUP

Meets the 2nd Friday of every month from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.
at the IHOP located at 6535 Airport Hwy., Holland.

  • To provide a forum for members to network, learn more about their fellow Chamber members and create an environment for exchanging leads. Promote the interaction of Chamber members and allow them to consistently share information about their business.

Networking Opportunities:

  • Always an introduction of who you are allowing us to get to know you and your business,
  • Spotlight a member at each meeting,
  • Develop Business to Business Swap for each meeting,
  • Encourage testimonials and member announcements.

PROGRAMS/SPEAKERS BUREAU COMMITTEE

Co-Chair: Tim Villa, Sr. (Data Research, Inc.) 419-534-5422

Meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. at the Chamber office on an ‘as needed’ basis.

  • To keep our members informed and updated on local business developments,
  • To provide the resources for educational information as it pertains to their business.

Committee Tasks:

  • Schedule Guest Speakers for monthly General Membership luncheon meetings,
  • Develop business education and information resources.

GOVERNMENT LIAISON COMMITTEE

Co-Chairs: Leslie Kohli (Springfield Township) 419-865-0239

Meets bi-monthly on the 3rd Tuesday of the month (Jan/March/May/July/Sept/Nov) at 9:00 a.m.
at the Chamber office, located at 940 Clarion Avenue, Holland.

  • To keep our Chamber members updated on legislative issues that affect their business.

Committee Tasks:

  • Update Chamber members on Zoning & Tax changes,
  • Small Business Initiatives,
  • Provide legislative updates.

EVENTS & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

Co-Chairs: Dennis Linn (Edward Jones Investments) 419-868-8777

Meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 8:30 a.m. at the Chamber office located at 940 Clarion Avenue, Holland. (As needed)

  • To develop and implement Chamber events that raise funds for Chamber programs while providing exposure and awareness of Chamber members,
  • To further develop community partnerships and play an active role in maintaining our quality of life.

Committee Tasks:

  • Responsible for coordinating the Chamber’s Golf Event,
  • Assist the Membership and Ambassador Committees in improving networking opportunities for Chamber members,
  • Conduct Chamber raffles,
  • Develop new and improve existing Chamber fundraising activities,
  • Plan and coordinate special events for the Chamber,
  • Plan and coordinate the Chamber’s Annual Awards Banquet.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Committee Chair: Ryan Stevens (International Language Source) 419-865-4374

Meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. at the Chamber office.

  • Assist Executive Director in drafting an annual Budget,
  • Perform an internal audit on the Chamber every 2 years.

Committee Tasks:

  • Prepare annual Budget for Board approval prior to the end of each year.

As you can see, the Holland/Springfield Chamber has a variety of opportunities in place for you to get involved. Your participation will help to provide additional exposure for you and your business, as well as allowing you to enhance your professional expertise and further build your leadership skills.
